It's a scary world out there....especially for our young girls who are growing up. I feel like I see so many things on social media, on TV and movies that are just really discouraging our girls. Their confidence levels are going down, their self-image is out of whack and they're picking out things that they don't like about themselves that really shouldn't matter. They just don't feel beautiful.
I get it. I was a young girl and I grew up feeling not beautiful, not loved, not important, etc. I am just so grateful that I had the foundation of believing in a God that loves me no matter what. I was able to call on him during those times. There were many times when I would force myself to look in the mirror and tell myself, "You are beautiful, You are Strong, You are loved, You are important, You are going to get through this. But that was me and I know that there are so many other young girls out there that don't have that strength or have those people to remind them of the good things about them. And that the trials they are going through now are going to pass.
It's hard being a young girl.
I'll be honest with ya'll. When I first started doing Let Your Soul Shimmer sessions, I just wanted to do a session for girls that would be a really pretty and fun session. I didn't have pretty dresses or girly stuff growing up. So I'm living vicariously through these girls now.
What I have come to realize, is that these pictures are life changing. These pictures make a difference. These pictures can save a life. WOW, that brought me a whole new sense of purpose. I don't just take pretty pictures. I transform lives.
When these girls come in, I want them to have a super special experience. I want them to feel beautiful, not just on the outside, but on the inside.
My purpose now is to help them create at least one piece of artwork to put on their wall as a daily reminder that they are Beautiful, they are smart, they are loved, they are important and they are worth it. On the hard days, I want them to look at their picture and have hope.
I want to help design this life changing reminder for every girl. For now, I will do for one what I wish I can do for all.
