I immediately fell in love with Celebrations Bridal & Prom the moment I set foot in their beautiful shop in New Braunsfel. They are trend setters. If you are looking for a unique dress that no other bride in the area is going to have, look no further! I have faith you will find the perfect dress here!
How did you get started in the bridal and formal industry and how many
years have you been in the industry?
My husband and I opened a small bridal boutique in Sacramento, CA in 2004 after noticing a void in the market. We started with a small 1,500 square foot space and grew the business to 4,000 square feet in 4 years. We sold the store to move back home to Texas, where I met the owner that began Celebrations 29 years ago. She was considering retirement, so we agreed
that when she was ready, she would call me to talk about the possibility of taking over Celebrations. That chat occurred about 2 years ago, and I'm so thankful to be back in the bridal industry doing what I love in an amazing community!
How did you personalize your shop for brides?
We try to learn as much about our brides before their appointment begins so we can personalize the experience. We invite our brides to pre-shop our inventory online and create a wish list to tell us what styles they might be interested in. Based on their list, we can have a few gowns pulled for them when they arrive. We also have our brides fill out an information card that gives us an idea of what type of wedding they are planning.
What makes the Celebrations Bridal & Prom experience unique?
Our goal is to make our customers comfortable. Shopping for a wedding dress can be an anxious time, so we try to put our customers at ease. Our team is friendly and fun, and our store is clean and bright without being stuffy. We scour the country for styles that are fresh and beautiful, but
still classic and approachable. We understand that our brides want to maintain the balance between on-trend and timeless when it comes to bridal fashion.
What designers do you carry?
Bridal designers include Allure Couture, Maggie Sottero, Stella York, Casablanca, David Tutera, and Blush by Hayley Paige.
What should I bring with me during my appointment?
Any pictures of dresses that have caught your eye will help your stylist get an idea of what you like. If you are considering wearing heels for your wedding, a shoe of the same height might be helpful with measuring. Other than that, just bring 2-3 trusted advisors and be ready to have fun!
What sizes bridal gowns does your bridal shop offer?
Our sample gowns range from size 6 to size 26, with the majority of dresses in sizes 10-16.
How do the fittings and alterations work at the bridal salon?
Once your dress arrives, we can schedule a first fitting with our in-house seamstress. The first fitting usually takes about one hour, and we discuss what modifications need to be made to the gown in order to make it fit you perfectly. At the end of the fitting, our seamstress provides a quote for the work as discussed. Six to eight weeks later, you will come back in to try on your gown after the work has been completed. If any tweaks need to be made, you may have a third fitting, but usually two fittings is sufficient.
What bridal trends are you seeing for 2018?
Ball gowns are coming back and lace is still very important to our hill country brides. Long sleeves are trending and sparkly belts or sashes are still a great way to add a little bling to a more understated look.
What is the most valuable bit of advice you would give a bride-to-be?
Don't make yourself crazy by asking too many people for their opinion OR by assuming you have to see EVERY dress in the world before making a decision. Find something that makes you feel great and go for it! And...have fun! After all, a wedding is really just a big party in disguise :)
What's been your most rewarding experience with a bride-to-be during a one-on-one consultation?
It's always special to help a bride design a way for her dress to commemorate a lost loved one. Our brides and their families get SO creative when it comes to sewing inscriptions or pinning mementos from family members inside their gowns. Personally, I feel most proud when I am
able to help a bride who doesn't like to be the center of attention, or a bride who might have struggled with body image issues in the past. When she looks in the mirror and says, "I love it." my heart just soars!
How far in advance should I start looking for a dress prior to my wedding date?
Most gowns take 3-4 months to arrive once the order is placed. Of course, delays can happen, so we recommend ordering your gown at least 6 months before your wedding. That being said, many of our designers carry stock and offer accelerated shipping for a small upcharge. We also sell off-the-rack, so don't let a quick wear date deter you from coming to New Braunfels for a visit! We would love to help!
